Engineers: The Curators of the Modern World

The invention of technology started with the inventions of tools and techniques. Tools such as darts, drills, and spears made of stone and wood, used for hunting techniques is the history where the development of technology started. The invention of the wheel is the greatest achievement in the history of mankind and brought a revolution in technology hence the era of technology started. And lead to the first step in the field of engineering.

Engineering is using the logic of science to solve problems in the real world. Engineers are trained to so, we B.Tech and M.Tech course that help learn the concept of designing, building, use of machines and engines, structures. Put the thoughts into action, innovate, work with creativity in order to bring out something new. The engineers have left a strong impact on the world and the modern world we are living in would not have been possible without classical engineers like Archimedes, Leonardo Da Vinci, Nikola Tesla to Elon Musk the modern times’ legend in engineering who are shaping the world.

Engineering Courses

There are many universities that offer these engineering courses are Dayanand Sagar University, Visvesvaraya Technological University, Calicut University. There are five major engineering categories: mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, computer science engineering. And later these categories were divided into multiple subcategories based on the advancement and specification of the field and area of enhancement.

There are courses that are divided into graduate courses such as B.E/ B.Tech courses. Further divided into categories based on majors, B.E/B.Tech in mechanical engineering, B.E/B.Tech in chemical engineering, B.E/B.Tech civil engineering etc. And post-graduate courses as M.E/ M.Tech courses, further divided into categories based on the majors such as M.E/ M.Tech in mechanical engineering, M.E/ M.Tech in chemical engineering, M.E/ M.Tech civil engineering and the list goes on.

Mechanical engineering

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest fields of engineering. It combines maths principles and engineering physics with materials science that help design, manufacture, analyze and maintain the mechanical system. 

Chemical engineering

Chemical engineering is the branch of engineering that not solely deals with chemicals, it is a combination of physics, maths, and biology. From water purification using chlorination to processing of metals, all come under chemical engineering. 

Civil engineering

Civil engineering is a form of engineering that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physically and naturally build structures like buildings, roads, airports, dams, bridges, canals, sewage, pipelines, etc.

University of Calicut

One of the universities that offer these vast fields of engineering courses is Calicut University. The University of Calicut is the largest University in the state of Kerala, established in the year 1968. It was the second university set up in Kerala and has over 426 colleges under it and it has become one of the major sources of education among the students. It helps thousands of young women and men in Kerala gain knowledge and achieve their goals. Kerala has the highest literacy rate in India with 94% literacy. 

India has been blooming in the field of technology and has been ranked as the third most attractive destination for investment in technology in the world. Modern India has realized technology is the major component in the growth of the economy and has a strong focus on science and technology. The government has a strong priority in the area of development of technology and it aims to science-centric people, which creates huge opportunities for engineers. 

India and industrialization

India is actively working towards the advancement in industrialization and technology development to establish itself as the leader. It is currently focusing on a significant development in the field of nuclear energy. India is majorly working on expanding its nuclear capacity to develop itself as a nuclear power in the future. 

In the year 2017, India has become the world’s third-largest technology startup hub with the incorporation of 1,000 new companies. The Government of India is rigorously promoting tech parks and technology business incubators to promote innovative ideas to emerge as a commercial venture. Indian Space is about to witness growth with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to launch its first human mission by the end of the year 2022.
