How Does Technology Use Affect Health

Technology Use Affect Health

New information technologies greatly facilitate our work, and at the same time deepen the existing ways of communication and exchange of information with people around the world. However, they also have their downside, which, if we are not careful, can outweigh the positive aspects. Each of us has encountered both positive and negative aspects of modern technologies, so we should always try to minimise the negative and maximise the positive impact. We will list some of the most visible effects of modern technologies.

1) Waste of time

There is so much interesting content on the Internet that, even if we wanted to review and comment on everything, even ten lives would not be enough for us. Unfortunately, we have only one life and a day that lasts only 24 hours. This is why we should always try to make the most of our time. Unfortunately, many of us spend hours and hours in front of phones, tablets or computer screens, doing nothing smart. It all comes down to clicking on funny pictures and videos indefinitely, which provide only a momentary stimulus. The same goes for reading news and articles, which only provoke some momentary emotion, without any deep fulfilment. Realistically, it is better to spend that time learning something smart, walking in nature, or having coffee with a neighbour. That way, you will fill your time much better, and it will mean more to you in the long run.

 2) We observe all events in our lives through the screen

With the development of social networks and the practice of tagging and sharing images, it becomes more important how we turned out in the picture, and not how we really spent our time. The ability to enjoy real events is lost. For example, it is more important how the food we photograph will turn out in the picture, and not what the taste and nutrition of that food really are. This has a very bad effect on our perception of reality, our self-esteem, and our mental health.

3) Loss of attention and concentration

New technologies are also having a devastating effect on our brains. The human brain is not designed to cope with the challenges of modern devices, so the excessive use of modern technologies reduces the ability to concentrate and think. After a few years spent online, it’s getting harder for us to spend a few minutes reading a book or delving into what we’re reading. Everything becomes instant, and we permanently lose the ability to work on something serious. Some experts even conclude that the internet makes us stupider because it turns people into zombies who just constantly click on unimportant things.

4) General health disorders

Modern technologies make us move less and spend less time in nature. Also, there is the possibility of visual impairment in people who stare at the screen or hear, in people who wear headphones all the time.

It has also been proven that new technologies impair the quality of sleep if the devices are turned on overnight.

5) Insulation

New technologies, without any doubt, improve communication between people, but at the same time, there is a danger of neglecting socialising face to face. We think that it is enough that we talk to our friends occasionally through chatting, but in that way, we actually neglect socialising. One day when we need friends, we realise that we can’t trust someone we only know from the internet.

 6) Lack of privacy

Everything we do on the internet remains recorded somewhere and someone has access to it. This is also transmitted to the real world, where anyone can take a picture of you without your knowledge on the street, and have it recorded somewhere. Another problem is the fact that the users themselves do not have a great sense of privacy, because they are not even aware of how much it is not possible. This also has a very bad influence on our mental state. We can become paranoid and feel like we are in danger all the time.

 7) Stress

The need to be constantly connected to the Internet, to be up-to-date with everything and everyone, as well as the fact that we are always available to everyone, creates an additional level of stress. For example, research shows that most of us, from time to time, hear a non-existent ringing or vibrating phone, which is a sign that the body is under stress.

What should we do?

It is clear that we cannot exclude technology from our lives and become Robinsons. But, we need to think about our health, the health of our brain and brain cells. In these circumstances, we must make sure that our body, muscles and brain get all the necessary nutrients in order to function properly. We advise you to use ashwagandha tablets, good quality supplements, which will improve your brain function, mood, muscle strength and help you with sleep problems.

The positive side of modern technology

In order not to be so pessimistic, we must also mention the positive aspects of technology. We are often unaware of how fast things are changing and how much technology can help us in the healthcare industry. Information technology is an important component of the process of using society’s information resources in various spheres of life. Medical informatics is developing rapidly. This industry is becoming one of the most important areas for the intellectual breakthrough of medicine to new frontiers.

Telemedicine is the provision of medical care at a distance through information and communication technologies aimed at promoting the development of world health, the implementation of epidemiological surveillance and the provision of medical care (diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases), as well as training, management and scientific research in the field of medicine. With the use of new information technologies, thanks to clinical telemedicine programs, any person will be able to receive qualified medical care in order to improve their health, regardless of where they live.

Conclusion

In modern conditions, the relationship between human health and information technology, disorders of somatic and mental health of the population caused by modern technology and psycho-mental disorders, remain topical issues. Primary prevention of behavioural diseases can be carried out through the education of a conscious attitude to their health and through the formation of a healthy lifestyle.
