How to Successfully Market Your Business as a Wedding Venue

Since 2017, the average market growth for weddings has seen a dip. This is largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the shutdown of many venues across the country.

However, as life returns to normal and we enter a post-pandemic society, there has been a recent trend toward growth within the wedding industry.

That makes it a perfect time to open and market a wedding venue.

If you already own a business with an incredible location and accommodations, you could already be halfway there to creating a successful venue. But, how can you market yourself as such if you’ve never done it before? How can you tap into this nearly 60 billion dollar industry and expand your business into a new market?

Understand Your Market

Any good marketing strategy requires research. You might not be able to look at personal data and success when it comes to your business as a venue. However, you can look at trends, case studies, and whether your business would really work as a venue.

Some of the biggest wedding trends expected to dominate 2022 include

  • Nontraditional ceremonies/receptions
  • Big parties
  • Wedding weekends
  • Formal events

If your location would be ideal for any of those trends, consider how you can convert your existing business into something more. Is your space big enough for a wedding? Will you be able to accommodate both a ceremony and reception? How can you tie in your existing business with offered wedding services?

Keep in mind that it will be an investment. You might have to convert certain things about your business or expand your location.

However, you can use those conversions and changes as part of your marketing technique. If you already have a successful business with loyal customers or clients, it might be time to rebrand yourself or repackage what you’re selling to include weddings – and everything that goes with them. If you really want to convince current customers or clients that your space will work, host your own events! Invite wedding planners and vendors to parties and “mock receptions” at your venue to increase your leads and get the word out that your business is making moves.

Focus On Communication

Even if marketing your business as a wedding venue makes it feel like you’re starting from the ground up, remember that you already have a target audience and customer base. By expanding your services, however, you can expand that audience

Utilize communication on every level. Market your wedding services on social media, your website, newsletters, and even by sending personalized postcards or brochures to past customers. Consider implementing certain AI services into your business, as well. That could include installing a chatbot on your website to help engaged couples with their questions about your venue. You still have another business to run, so automating things as much as possible will keep you from getting burnt out.

It’s worth it, however, to have a few employees solely dedicated to your wedding services. When brides and grooms are planning their big day, they want to be heard and they want their questions answered as soon as possible. If you truly want your new venue to stand out, you’ll need to focus on a combination of marketing and responsive communication.
