How to Optimize Your Weekend: 3 Tips

Most working professionals will admit that the weekend is the time that they appreciate the most. It’s the time where you get to sleep in, slow down a bit, and relax. As you get older, you quickly realize how important it is to optimize the weekend. The way you spend your weekend can set the tone for the rest of your week. Instead of spending the entire weekend in bed watching TV, consider the following three tips in order to make the most of the weekend.

1. Carve Out Time for Yourself

It’s important to set aside time to reflect, thank and relax. It’s even more important to do those things alone. It can be especially hard if you have children, a spouse or other responsibilities that are pulling at your attention.

However, you have to set aside time for you to reconnect with yourself. Whether you spend an hour, 3 hours, or an entire day, carve out time for yourself. There are a number of things you can do in order to refill yourself. If you love to exercise, consider visiting a local park like Lake D’Arbonne State Park in order to hike, jog or meditate.

If you love to visit the spa, consider booking a massage for yourself to relax. If you love reading, go to a local bookstore to purchase a new book. Once you’ve purchased the book, actually sit down and enjoy it. Visit the local ice cream shop to try a new flavor of ice cream. Purchase a coloring book and colored pencils to ease some stress.

Sometimes, it doesn’t take much for you to reconnect with yourself, acknowledge what you need, and indulge in a creative moment. Do this on a weekly basis in order to optimize your weekend and the following week.

2. Take Care of That Looming Responsibility

It’s not uncommon for some people to feel an immense amount of dread as they get closer to Monday morning. This is because there are so many responsibilities that are hanging over their heads. Take care of that one looming responsibility in order to decrease your level of stress.

Whether you take care of that responsibility on Friday night or Sunday morning, carve out a certain amount of time that you can knock that task out of the park. When you’re able to get it done, it helps you to relax more without feeling pressure to be a superhero who gets everything done.

Sometimes, one of the best things you can do to optimize your weekend involves preparing your meals for the week, doing laundry for the week or finding a cleaning service provider who can clean your home for you. Those small tasks that make a big difference are the ones that you need to take care of. Whether you choose to do it or you choose to outsource the work to someone else, make sure it gets done. It’ll make you feel so much better.

3. Connect with People who Fill You Up

You have to make an effort to connect with people who fill you up from an emotional standpoint. There is nothing like being around people that you don’t particularly care for. It can be an extremely draining experience. Instead, make sure that you scheduled a phone call, a visit, or a date with a friend in order to check in with each other, enjoy each other’s company and relax.

When people suffer from burnout, one of the most essential tasks they can complete involves reconnecting with someone who serves as a safe space for them. When you are able to be around somebody with energy that matches your own and makes you feel comfortable, this can positively impact you on a psychological level.

When you’re a child, it’s pretty common to hear adults say that you need to spend your time wisely. You only get a certain amount of hours in every single day. Once those hours are gone, you can’t recover them.

This is one of the main reasons why people look at time as the greatest commodity. By optimizing your weekend with these three tips, you can spend your time wisely and refuel yourself in order to face the new week.
