Hey, In a moment you will learn how to permanently fix Right click hang or lag. But before I provide you a permanent solution, let me tell you why this problem occurs in Windows. Actually, there are many reasons that affect the working of right click on windows, but I have found three best reasons, why it occurs mainly. It’s because.

Reason 1 – You recently updated your operating system (Windows OS) or any software. Due to that other software’s are not working properly. The other software is those that are not supporting that OS or is outdated and need to be updated. I was stuck with this problem because of this reason.

OR

Reason 2 – There may be any software that is conflicting with other software or is conflicting with Windows OS.

OR

Reason 3 – You have lots of software installed, which appears in your context menu. The conflict actually occurs in the context menu of the right click.

What is the context menu?

Answer: When you right click on any file or folder, a popup menu appears. That menu has the list of all regularly used important shortcuts. That is what we call as context menu or as Right click context menu.

So the above three are most probable reasons of right-click lag. So lets see how to permanently fix Right click hang or lag in Windows

Permanently fix Right click hang or lag in Windows

Firstly I want you to download an very very small software that makes our work easy. It’s name is “ShellExView” and its size is about 66 Kb, which is very small. Prefer downloading the .zip file of ShellExView software, as it is easy to manage and you don’t need to install it.
Step 1 – Open that ShellExView zip file and extract it anywhere. Open the file shexview.exe from the extracted files. A window will open with lots and lots of data or extension or files, whatever!
Step 2 – Here you will notice that there are different columns in that list. Just click on type column to sort out the files according to type of files or extension.  See image below.

Step 4 – Here you have to hunt down that conflicting software and remove it from the context menu. Just right-click on any file with type “context menu” and click on “Disable Selected Items“. You can mark many extensions at the same time. Enable option is also given just below it. See image below.

Step 5 – If you have a very big list of the context menu, then firstly try to remove all the unnecessary software from the list. Like on my laptop Bluetooth was creating the problem, so I removed the Bluetooth sent to option from the context menu. You will recognize the software through their name on the list.
Step 6 – After disabling the items restart the Windows Explorer and see if the Right-click hangs or lags has been fixed or not. To Restart the explorer, click on the Option the top bar and then select “Restart explorer. See image below.

Step 7 – If the problem is same as before then disable some more items from the list with the type “context menu” and restart explorer again to see the result. You will surely find that item which is creating the lag. After finding that item enables all other items again if you want. If the problem returns then there may be more than one conflicting software.
